Ultimate Reset Day 8 - Phase 2

Today was the first day of the detox phase. I can say I am not a fan of the detox drink but I know it is necessary and therefore will do the "Plug and Chug" with it. Today was fairly uneventful. I still feel really good and am sleeping well at night.

Breakfast was a fresh fruit plate which was awesome. I love fruit and have been waiting for this week so I could have more. Lunch was a microgreen salad with creamy garlic dressing and dinner was pinto beans with brown rice, green beans and zucchini.

As of this morning I was down 10.8 lbs. I am looking forward to this week and seeing how I do with it. The meals all look good and there are a few new things I can't wait to try. This phase we have completely phased out meat and dairy which will be the first time in my life I have ever attempted this.

I will keep updating daily. Until tomorrow...

Ultimate Reset Day 7 - End of Phase 1

Well today marks the end of Phase 1. It is hard to believe that Day 7 has come to an end. Overall I have to say that although it was challenging at times - for the most part I did not have any issues sticking to the plan. I did sub a meal here and there but only after trying what was planned first. I have come to find out that a lot of foods I thought I did not like or would never think of trying are actually quite tasty.

Breakfast today was oatmeal with flax seed and cinnamon and an apple. Lunch was a microgreen salad with creamy garlic dressing and some zucchini cashew soup. Dinner was my least favorite. It was baked tempeh with brown rice and steamed vegetables of my choosing. I did not have high expectations for the tempeh.. as I have seen a few posts about it in our accountability group. I do not know if I marinated it too long or what but the soy sauce flavor from the Bragg's was overpowering. It was not bad but it wasn't anything I would ever make again. I only ate a few bites of it before I just couldn't do it anymore. I had to at least give it a shot though because I wanted to see if it was something I could continue eating. Next Phase the meat/dairy is completely cut out. I have looked ahead at the menu for the week and for the most part it all looks really good.

So my final day of the Reclaim Phase brings me a total weight loss of 10.6 lbs (as of this morning). Phase 2 - Release begins the detox part of the program. Phase 2 was where I was expecting the weight loss to come in so this should be interesting. I am sleeping better, have more energy throughout the day and just feel better overall. I am really looking forward to Phase 2 and what it brings.

If this reset is something you are considering I highly recommend it. After only 7 days I can tell such a huge difference in my life. It isn't something I can really relay through words. You just have to see for yourself.

On to Phase 2!!

Day 6

Today was Day 6. I slept really well again last night. It has been really nice getting decent sleep for a change. Today was pretty uneventful. I still feel the same as the past few days. My energy level has remained steady.

Breakfast was a fresh fruit plate and toast with yogurt. I deviated from the plan because I was supposed to have Baked Tempeh for breakfast but I did not wake up until 11 am so I did not have time to prepare it without throwing my whole day off schedule. Lunch was a microgreen salad with creamy garlic dressing and quinoa. Dinner was interesting.. in a good way. It was roasted root vegetables with zucchini cashew soup and toasted millet. Now, up until today I always thought I did not like beets. I was also hesitant to try the soup. One thing I can say is that this reset has had me trying foods I never imagined. I love some of these things I am trying and can't believe that I probably would have went the rest of my life without ever trying them if it wasn't for this. It was a very good dinner and I was full before I finished it.

Today was the first day I have really found my mind wandering to "bad" foods all day. I know deep down I really don't want them and don't need them but you know how it is - tell someone they can't have something and it makes it that much more appealing. When I find my mind wandering to such things I just remind myself why I am doing this. All of the damage I have done to my body in the 32 years I have been around the least I can do is give myself 21 days of treating it right to get myself back on track!

I have been experiencing some leg cramps tonight. I did not get my full water intake in today and did some walking around downtown this afternoon so it may be from the lack of water. Other than that I have not experienced any other issues today. I started to get tired right around 10:30pm which seems to be the pattern for me lately.

Tomorrow I will do my grocery shopping for Phase 2 - The Detox phase. Tomorrow is my last day of Phase 1 and so far I am beyond pleased with the results so far. As of this morning I am down 8.8 lbs. I am started to feel the mental changes as well. I have more patience, I feel calmer and just an all around sense of well being. Maybe it is me just knowing that what I am doing is so good for me. Whatever it is I am ready to take on tomorrow and finish Phase 1 out strong and head into Phase 2.

Day 5

I can't believe the first 5 days are already done! I slept really well again last night. In fact, my husband had to shake me to wake me up because my alarm had been going off. Breakfast was farina with syrup and toasted walnuts and some fresh raspberries. It was really good. For lunch I had quinoa salad and a raw vegetable plate. I ended up eating a snack today because I was hungry and I knew dinner was going to be a while. Dinner was stir fry veggies again - which was just as good tonight as last night. I had to make another double batch so my husband and mom could eat some.

Overall I feel about the same. Still have good energy - no spells of exhaustion during the day. I am not having any cravings and overall am just feeling really good. I hear that after Day 5 is when you really start noticing a difference. I can't wait to see!! Its hard to believe phase 1 is almost done and I will be moving into Phase 2 (Detox phase) in 2 days.

Total weight loss is sitting at 8.2 lbs. I have noticed that I have been getting tired around 10:30pm every night and no matter what time I wake up I am ready to get up and not groggy like I used to be. It doesn't take me forever to wake up which is a nice change.

If anyone has any specific questions about the reset let me know! I am still very happy I decided to take on this challenge. I look forward to tomorrow!

Day 4

Today was Day 4. I am still not having any of the problems that some people reported such as being sore and really tired. I slept really well again last night and was wide awake at 5am ready to go. Today was another good and successful day! The food was once again amazing! Breakfast was a fresh fruit plate ( I opted for kiwi, raspberries, strawberries and oranges) with a piece of whole grain toast and some plain yogurt with agave. Lunch was supposed to be a repeat of last nights dinner - the nori rolls- which I was not really impressed with so I decided to use day 3 lunch and had a microgreen salad and lentil lime salad. Dinner was one of the best meals to date. It was stir fry veggies with quinoa and tomato cucumber salad. I could have eaten a LOT more of it!

As far as how I am feeling I am right on track. I have had more energy, feel more focused at work and just have an all around sense of calmness. I like the schedule of the supplements and eating. It makes me plan my days out more and I could always use a little more structure in that department! I still haven't had any "cravings" per say but am not going to lie - I have had thoughts about other foods.. BAD foods.. like my all time favorite french fries and gravy (yes I am from up north LOL). However, I just reminded myself why I committed to this journey and know that what I am doing for myself is beyond any satisfaction I would get from said french fries and gravy!

As I sit here and write this I hear the clinking of the spoon against the bowl as my husband tries to hide in the kitchen and eat his ice cream. I am proud to say I wouldn't want any even if I wasn't doing this reset. Some of the bad foods I used to let myself indulge in occasionally don't seem to have that same sparkle anymore. In 4 days I already feel like I have come a long way.

As of this morning I am down 8.2 lbs. It is amazing how much trash our body holds onto that in only 3 days time of eating good clean foods that I have let go of that much. The menu for tomorrow is looking good. I am looking forward to another good night of rest and can't wait to see what tomorrow holds!

Day 3!

Today was the dreaded Day 3. I call it that because during the test groups most people said around Day 3 they were exhausted and some had dull aches. To my pleasant surprise I was fine all day today. I slept really good again last night. I did have some dull back pain last night when I laid down but all was resolved by the time I woke up this morning.

The food today was good. Breakfast was eggs, toast and kale. Lunch was a lentil salad and a microgreen salad. Dinner - to be 100% honest - was not my favorite. Tonight was nori roll with miso soup and japanese cucumber salad. I am not a sushi fan but decided to give the meal a try anyways. It was tolerable but not something I will keep in my regular recipe rotation. If you like sushi you would probably love it.. the seaweed smell just gets to me. I am looking forward to the food tomorrow as I have heard amazing things about the menu.

Overall I am feeling great. I am not tired at all nor do I have any pains today. It has been a lot easier so far than I expected. I have no cravings for anything.. except the fruit that haunts me every time I open my refrigerator door.. and that will be devoured tomorrow morning! Even when I see other people eating ice cream and other unhealthy foods I don't have the least bit of desire to have it. I am drinking plenty of water and just feel light and refreshed.

Tomorrow we will see if the curse of days 3-4-5 rears its head. Until then I have nothing but positive things to say about the reset. I look forward to the next day!

DAY 2!

Today was Day 2 of the Ultimate Reset. I slept really well last night. I woke up a lot but each time I woke up I felt great and like I had been asleep all night long.. a few times I woke up thinking I had been asleep for hours and it was only 15 minutes. I was well rested and had no problems getting out of bed this morning.

The food today was awesome again. Breakfast was oatmeal with blueberries and yogurt with agave. Lunch was a Greek salad with chicken and was out of this world!! Dinner was black bean/rice on a corn tortilla with steamed kale and corn. I have not felt hungry at all during these 2 days.

I have heard that Days 3-5 can be the hardest.. where the tired feeling kicks in and some soreness as the body detoxes. I am starting to feel some slight pain in my back this evening but I am not positive it is from the detox - since I spent a lot of time in the kitchen tonight doing prep work.

All in all I am very satisfied with my first two days. I have not had any cravings so far - even when my husband has been eating ice cream and other unhealthy food in front of me. I am looking forward to seeing how I sleep tonight and how I feel in the morning.

So far I have lost 4.6 lbs. This is by no means meant for weight loss but I felt lighter today and was feeling so good I decided to jump on the scale for the fun of it. It was a great surprise. I am excited for what the next 19 days hold for me.

The Ultimate Reset

Today was the first day to what I can only hope will be the template for the rest of my life. In March of last year I had finally reached my goal weight and was beyond excited. Fast forward a few weeks and I find out I am pregnant. During the pregnancy I put on a lot of weight - in excess of 50 lbs. I took it as a free for all. What I wanted the baby wanted, right? Within a few weeks after delivery I had dropped 30 of those pounds but found myself stuck in the bad eating habits. I had been doing P90X and Turbo Fire before the pregnancy but decided I wanted a fresh start and to try something new.  Before I know it Beachbody puts out what they call "The Ultimate Reset". It is a 21 day slow detox program that is broken down into 3 phases. I decided this was exactly what I needed to jump start and get myself back on the path of healthy eating and exercise. I am going to blog about my journey with the Ultimate Reset and let you know all the ins and outs - good and bad.
Today was Day 1. The food today was really good. I am having a hard time adjusting to eating 3 meals a day instead of my normal 5. However, I was not overly hungry throughout the day. Breakfast consisted of eggs, toast and steamed kale. Lunch was a microgreen salad with some creamy garlic dressing and dinner is baked salmon with potatoes and asparagus. I am feeling fine. No changes really. I have taken all the supplements according to schedule and am working on my gallon of water. I am really looking forward to what lies ahead. This week is the only week you are allowed animal protein.. this is the only concern I have because I am a HUGE steak/chicken person.
I will update tomorrow on how my sleep goes tonight and how I am feeling in the morning. I look forward to this journey. The results I have seen from other participants have been amazing and I hope I can add my success story to the group!
